SMILE Vol.3 May 19, 2018 (H30)

Recognized co-existent with nature through the Volcano

Hawaii volcano from Kilauea erupted and it is in the news every day. Every time I see the picture of the eruption, I have indescribable feelings. I grew up at the bottom of Mt. Aso which is an active volcano. Mt. Aso erupted time to time and I had scary experiences every time that happened. However we also experienced the benefits of the volcano. It could be a beautiful scenery and there could be also some hot springs. Also the land that was created by the lave and gravel provide people a living space and provide crops from the soil through underground water. In the long history, people face the nature like volcano and co-existed with their knowledge’s.

Aim for teachers like this!

• Bringing out the ability of children
• Trusted by parents (2nd teacher)
• Improve oneself and lead children in the back
The previous Smile talked about how the school should be and how the children should be. Now, I am focusing on the teachers. The most desired ability as a teacher is the first bullet point, bring out the ability of children. Every child has potential in them. The excellent teacher notices the potential and brings out and grows them. The second bullet point is that many parents see the growth of their children and through that, they trust teachers. Improving children’s’ academics and power of living connects to the trusts. Of course, the communication is the basis of trusts. The last bullet point is that to be able to grow with children and be a humble teacher.

Success of Swimmy Project

May 5th is a children’s day so the heritage Japanese language class did a Swimmy Project. (Everyone’s dream) The class led by Teacher Kobayashi studied “Swimmy” which is in 2nd grade textbook. Each student wrote their dreams on the red fish. The only black swimmy became an eye and made a large fish. Their “Swimmy Koinobori” was swimming strongly like the Koinobori in front of Friend’s Central school.
