Energized by Fresh Spring Green

While I was driving, I realized that Philadelphia is a city with lots of green. I am a little sad that the Sakura came to an end, however, “Fresh spring green” is right there and giving me energy. Sakura makes everyone happy, but just like Sakura, this fresh green is attractive by giving us Peace and lots of energy. School has already past its first month. The students are getting used to the new school environment and are starting to focus on their studies. I hope the spring green will give them a lot of energy.

The previous Smile talked about how the school should be. Now, I am focusing on the children. What kind of students I would like them to be. Three key points are core to “Knowledge”, “Morals” and “Health”. All three are very important. I would like to make a special focus on the second item “accept each other”. Students can speak their thoughts and being accepted by others will create comfortable classes, and that will create one step closer to higher academic skills. If we all keep this core point in our mind and support our teachers to help our students.

Undo-Kai Around the Corner

May 26th 2018 is the day of Undo-Kai. I see a lot of preparations are ongoing, and Students are also practicing. I hear many cheers from the field. Gradually getting excited overall and I also feel butterfly in my stomach. Many parents are assigned for responsibilities, which makes me think that Undo-kai has taken root at JLSP. I hope all the students, from Kindergartener to adult class students, will enjoy, make lots of memories, and grow bonds with friends. Keep hydrated, stay healthy, and safe since it is expected to be warm day.

Be Careful – Bees and other insects and small animals
There were some reports that bees are getting active around the elementary school building. Mosquitos, spiders, and other small animals are also getting active around the school. We have placed requests to take care these issues, however, we also need to watch our children to keep them safe. Please tell students to stay away from those areas. Please let us know immediately if you see bees getting active or hives.

Open Class JLSP has an open-door policy. Parents can see children’s school life as they wish. This open house day is set to see your students in their new class with their new teacher.

Adult Speech Contest from 10:00-12:30 will be held in the Multi-Purpose Room. Total 45 students studying in four Adult classes. They are learning Japanese Language and Cultures. This is the time for them to present what they have been learning. Please come and listen.

Other Information
Maido will be selling some items at Undo-kai. They are currently taking orders for Obento. Chicken Teriyaki or Salmon bento $10/each. Due on May 19th, 2018 by noon.
