The Book Week tradition started back in 1947; Reading is celebrated through multiple book reading events. The Book Week Poster (on the right) prizewinner made an interesting comment: people read before bedtime, during commute, in their spare time… Once they open a book, they step into a totally different world. Book is an easy magical tool. Let’s read anytime, anywhere!
There is also Children’s Book Week (April 23- May 12) held in hopes of providing children more opportunity to read. In our school, the Library Committee is giving various efforts to offer great reading environment for our students.
How about making the regular family time into a fun reading time this season?

Morning Assembly

Tell and Listen
I visited the 2nd grade class. At the end of the routine morning assembly, one student stood in front of the class and told about her daily experience.
Lower grade students show interests in their surrounding environment, and talk and ask about it to their friends and adults they know.
They start telling about their new encounter, family members etc. to their parents and teachers. At this age, how they relate to their friends slowly changes, and discussion sometimes becomes necessary.
To nurture the ability to tell and listen, I proposed the teachers to set aside “telling time”. Topics for the “telling time” are chosen from daily experiences. Telling comes in conjunction with listening. The ability to listen carefully becomes necessary as well.

Thank You Note from Nippon Foundation

The fund raised during Fall 2016 Bazaar by Keisho 4 class was donated to the Fund to Support Children’s Future. We received a Thank You note from the Nippon Foundation and they also posted some photos taken at the bazaar on their Facebook page. https:// www.facebook.com/kodomonomiraiouen/

Announcement

◊From Library
Thank you for parents who retuned the books on their children’s behalf before break.
